Craft Pricing: Price your work confidently for profit

Craft Pricing Workshop

Learn how to price your work confidently if you are

an Artist, Crafter, Hobbyist, Designer/Maker or Craft Business Owner

Getting the pricing right is essential for any craft business. Effective pricing strategies lead to a healthy profit and the growth of your company. If these are the goals that you are looking to achieve, this workshop will provide you with practical guidelines and answers to ensure you are on the right track.

Pricing of your products confidently is an essential element in your business, which directly affects its profitability. Pricing can be a daunting and challenging task for many crafters in the handmade market. Nevertheless, it needs to be done carefully from the outset. This will ensure that your business runs efficiently to maximise your profit.

In this workshop I will cover many important factors that are key elements in your accurate pricing calculations. I will provide advice on how to avoid the common pricing mistakes and misjudgements that are made amongst most designers/makers when pricing either too low or too high. This course will help you to adopt the pricing policy that can make your business prosper.

You can attend this workshop on a One-To-One basis at my home studio in Hove, East Sussex or receive your Live Training Session in the comfort of your home via Skype or FaceTime. This workshop is designed for you if you are starting a new venture and need a helping hand with how to price your products with confidence. It can also benefit you if you have an existing craft business, but need advice to analyse your pricing strategies with a view to improvement. There are many pricing formulas available, but we will particularly talk about two strategies that are fairly simple yet effective. These are cost-plus and value based pricing.

This is just a few subjects I will cover during this workshop:

  • The difference between cost and value
  • Fixed, variable and hidden costs
  • Cost-plus and value based pricing formula and what elements determine the value of your work
  • Wholesale versus retail price
  • The importance of understanding and finding your ideal customers
  • The importance of branding in your pricing
  • The common mistakes in pricing
  • The downside of competition pricing
  • The Importance of knowing your business vision and values
  • Troubleshooting pricing
  • Pricing with confidence

A  Little Bit About Me

Moji Salehi-1

Hello, I’m Moji. I am a designer, maker and tutor. Since I can remember, I have always been creative and eager to learn new things. I didn’t choose it as my profession because it was a job or source of income. I did it because I simply loved it. I started Moji Designs in 2008, with the aim of setting up craft/business workshops to encourage people like you to explore their creative ideas and turn that into a successful craft business. With a background in interior design and textile printing, that same year I launched my silk screen printed collection (Our new shop is coming soon). Strong and vibrant colours combined with evocative patterns are the main design elements in this small limited edition range of home and fashion accessories.

In 2013 I launched my contemporary jewellery brand “Mojiana“, finally fullfilling a longheld dream. Running two creative businesses simultaneously has given me a unique insight into the worlds of craft and fashion. My experience has been that my patient nature, positive thinking, perseverance and passion for my work have proved to be amongst my most essential assets. I have been through many hair-pulling learning curves and all the trials and tribulations of starting and running a craft business, which have taught me invaluable lessons both in my work and personal life. Through hard work, focus and experience, I have managed to run my companies successfully, and have learnt to avoid the most common pitfalls associated with a small craft business.

Setting up a craft business in today’s economic climate is not an easy task, but once equipped with the right advice, information and knowledge of the industry, the difficulties can be overcome. Now I am here, and excited to share my experience and knowledge with you, so that you can reap the benefits when starting out on your own.
